Berwyn was close to wasted at this point, and if anyone were to ask her what actually happened at the White Nights festival, she could truthfully not give you a honest account of all of the events. Animals were everywhere, there was fire, shouting, flooding, and multiple mobs of angry people. She could remember Bianca helping her off the ground once, which stayed in her memory as she thought it was really nice and she gave her roommate a heartfelt compliment about it.
In reality she slurred the words: “Tank yoo! Wait, I cannot be ‘ere with you! I am away!”
And with that Berwyn continued to snuggle with a cow for a full minutes as she honestly wasn’t capable of processing much of what was happening for a moment. The headbutt of the animal came in a bit strong, yet after that the experience was honestly pleasant enough that the giantess could honestly stay here and continue to be a cow-wrangler for however long it took for her to drift into a blissful slumber.
The Cow on her part was a rather friendly and amiable animal. Trained to handle crowds and didn’t minded being touched. Berwyn decided to name the cow Moo-Moo. Not the most poetic name, but in her current state it was honestly profound. The two of them had gotten to become that much good friends that Berwyn decided that it was an excellent idea to try something.
After Bianca had left Berwyn’s side and the fence-makers took care of the other animals, Berwyn led Moo-Moo away and at a spot that wasn’t in chaos and on fire, which had become increasingly rare, she looked Moo-Moo into her cow eyes for a moment. Berwyn could swear that Moo-Moo understood what Berwyn was planning. The giantess floated up into the sky, and softly went to sit on her petting-zoo steed.
Berwyn, the cow-cavalry was coming to the rescue.
She was honestly too drunk and not in control of the cow to accurately have in say in what she was going to do. She tried in vain to get the cow to move for a short minute and eventually Moo-Moo went over towards the nearest food table to snack on some spilled confectioneries on the ground. While Berwyn was a good few meters away from the nearest race war in which she could spot several people with weird hair colors and clothing that she recognized as her classmates. Not wanting to be left out, she began to throw the nearest ammunition available into the crowd to ‘help’. Berwyn didn’t have her weapons on her, as she was at one point sober enough to not get piss drunk with deadly weapons.
The girl started to throw popcorn at the angry crowd, hitting some people’s heads with expert precision. While the candy wasn’t in anyway harmful, they were thrown with enough force and precision that it was an outright annoyance. Moo-Moo was too concerned with eating whatever was on the ground, and remained a good girl that didn’t caused too much trouble. It was Berwyn who was the bad influence in this human-animal relationship.
As she kept pelting the crowd, she shouted towards them all as she swayed on her cow. “BE NICE! THIS IS A FESTIVAL! THIN OF THE CHILDEN!”
Berwyn was drunk, and honestly needed someone to just tell her to go home or get out of the way before she hurt herself or someone else.

[attr="class","nikki109"]”The Festival is supposed to mark the kingdom’s birthday. In our foundation myth the first emperor used the light of the white night to find what would become Mistral in the first place but…” she trailed off then, and the annoyance was palpable as she narrowed her gray eyes and scanned the area around her once more. [break][break]
The chaos around them intensified, but Alina held back initially to see what would happen. When the initial wave of protestors came in, a fight became inevitable. Anyone could have seen that coming, but she was honestly hoping that someone else might take care of that first. It would have allowed the faunus to take care of the root problem first, rather than wasting her time on the symptoms. Things like this were only an issue when there was a bunch of things happening simultaneously, and you couldn’t actually tackle all of them at once. [break][break]
It turns out that waiting was a bad move, because those that did leap in caused more problems than they solved. One absolute fucking moron decided that earth manipulation on a residential street was a good idea, and after they failed to do anything about the crowd completely fucked up the plumbing for the area. She grimaced at the sight, and the back of her right hand itched when another absolute fucking dumbass decided to compound the problem by making a giant pumpkin to slam on top of the very big pipe that was just split and spewing water and heaven knows what the hell else upwards at a speed and intensity which would just rip through it and cause an even bigger problem for the city government to then ignore and never engage with. By blocking access to the pipe, they may have stopped the spray from going up but best case it ripped through the pumpkin in a few minutes and at a worst case it exploded the pipe underground due to water pressure and blew out the entire neighborhood’s plumbing. [break][break]
While Alina hesitated, Red went out to try and stop their people from getting pissed and making things worse. It was something that the white-haired faunus herself might have expected herself to do, but the fact of the matter was that her oratory skills were never the best and she doubted she could control a crowd with words alone even if she tried. She could jump into the fray with the rest of the semblance users, but at the end of the day that had the risk of starting a fight between semblance users which would make the entire area much more unsafe than it was now. The worst one of these hand-me-down thugs could do is knife you, and all of Alina’s people had auras unlocked by this point and could withstand at least one of those. Get one of those high strung and power tripping teenagers going, though, and they’d kill an entire city block to protect their ego from being hurt from getting shoved away or something. [break][break]
No, instead she’d cut through the crowd to make it to the guy with the loudspeaker. The issue with that, of course, was actually getting a visual on the guy when there was a literal wall of protestors in between her and her target. Still, there was a good chunk of people not involved in the thick of the fighting just trying to move around it and with her stealth ability it wasn’t hard to move herself into that group and hide herself in between a bunch of other people as they tried to get the hell out of the area. She wasn’t exactly very tall, and especially with so many broader people around it wasn’t hard to be completely unseen by those on the other end of the retreating crowd. [break][break]
The one problem with this, of course, was the fact that once she sandwiched herself in between a mass of people trying to get the hell out it was very difficult to actually move from that center position to the edges. The fact of the matter was that she was never very physically strong, and in the absence of a desire or willingness to force her way out with more directed violence she just kind of got swept away with the crowd. She couldn’t physically force her way past the people on the edges, and as a result got forced forward by the people behind her pushing her along due to also being trapped in the middle of the crowd. [break][break]
The back of her hand started itching again, but she resisted the urge to force it. It was her fault for prioritizing not being seen over making sure she actually got to the target, and at the very least she could still hear the guy with the loud speaker so she should have no trouble making her way back to him from behind once she could finally see an opportunity to break away. Her instincts were sometimes wrong, because in hindsight she could have just fought her way up because she could have just ignored any hits to her aura. Like she even noted to herself earlier, the most those clowns could do is stab her with any concealed weapons and that wouldn’t do even the slightest bit of damage to her at this point in her life. [break][break]
Well, at least this way she wasn’t able to see what kinds of weird shit were going to happen next. This entire first day was a lost cause at this point, frankly, and she was strongly considering just not coming the next day and letting things fall as they may. This week was supposed to be a fun, much needed break from the day to day stress and instead amped up those stress levels far beyond her day to day even as the leader of a fledgling group with zero established income streams and an ever increasing list of expenses. This was worse than accounting, because at least then there weren’t a bunch of high powered dumbasses going out of their way to make things worse for everyone involved before fucking off and leaving everyone else to clean up the mess they created. [break][break]
It was so, so frustrating that this was just how life was these days. Shit has always rolled downhill, but there had never been quite this much shit to roll. This anger, though, the frustration… it was useful. It was something she could revisit whenever she wavered in the future over whether she was pushing too hard, because there was no such thing as pushing too hard when a group of thugs could literally walk into a neighborhood and raise this much hell without a fucking peep from those who were entrusted to protect that neighborhood in the first place. Wouldn’t catch a police officer anywhere near this district, too unsafe for them. [break][break]
No, this wasn’t the time for that shit. Focus, focus. First goal was finding a way out of this crowd, for which she’d need to go right. Lowering her shoulder, Alina made one more effort to brute force her way through the two or three people on that side in order to make her exit. Once she got the fuck out of there, then she could double back and get rid of the guy with the loudspeaker, or at least the loudspeaker. Just one step at a time and things would work out, just one step at a time. [break][break]

Red listened carefully as her friend talked, doing her best to explicitly focus on those words instead of the random nonsense around her. As brief as the explanation was, it was more than enough to explain why Alina was interested in coming to this festival in the first place. She furrowed her brows and frowned when Alina stopped. It was fine if Alina didn't want to finish the explanation, but it was obvious to her that the reason Alina stopped was because of everything going on around them. It was ruining the festival.
She didn't mind not enjoying the festival. Sure, the chaos was annoying and starting to get physically painful due to her inability to tune it all out, but it meant very little to her. As long as Alina enjoyed it, the trip was worth while as far as she was concerned. That all this wasn't normal -- or at least not what Alina remembered -- and it was creating such a bad experience was unacceptable. She didn't follow her friend when she ran off and instead stared at the crowd. How selfish did people have to be to turn a celebration into a protest? On both sides. The people that started it were worse in every way, but how was making the situation bigger and more chaotic supposed to help anyone? She understood where the knee-jerk reaction came from, but it was stupid. Before, she was fine brushing it off as stupid and letting it be a constant annoyance in her ears. Now that it was ruining the festival for Alina, she was getting legitimately angry.
People were fucking awful.
Her hands balled into fists as she scanned the area. She wanted to do something, wanted to help, but what the hell was she even supposed to do? People using force to try to get some other people to shut up was exactly what caused this situation to erupt in the first place. If she went and tried to bully people, that'd only make things worse. In order to do anything, she'd have to defuse a bomb of stupidity and ego, and such a thing didn't even seem possible. She felt powerless, and that was even more frustrating. Enough so that she wanted to go in and try something, but that was exactly what got them into this situation in the first place. She needed to stop, breathe, and think.
Thinking about what she couldn't do was pointless. It was easy to get stuck on that with such an insurmountable mountain of a problem. The noise was seriously starting to get to her, and that made it hard to think. That was all the more reason to stay still and breathe for a moment. There had to be a thread she could pull.
Eventually, she found it. The one thing she might have any influence over what-so-ever. There were still a few people she recognized from the Kozaks around the edges, some trying to push themselves into the crowd, others just trying to yell over everyone else. They were a reasonable place to start. She just had to do this one thing at a time.
She wouldn't be surprised if most of them thought of her as the quiet, docile, helpful one. She didn't talk much, and was typically only seen either fixing something or helping Alina with something. There was almost always a smile on her face, and she tried way too hard to make sure everyone else could do the same. The look on her face right now didn't match that image. It was stone cold with no humor in it. All she did was tug on the clothing of the guys she could see and shake her head at them when they eventually turned around. She didn't say anything, not wanting to add more to the noise, only made them realize this was clearly pissing her off and that they should stop.
Getting such a small amount of people to stand down wouldn't do much of anything, but it was a start. Hopefully.

Attempting Problem: DOWN WITH FAUNUS!! :rebel: (Social 12) Using Kerch Kozaks (D Rank) Result: 3 + 2 = 5 (not solved)
Post by Opal Machias on Nov 22, 2020 11:33:36 GMT -5
The night had started so wonderfully with a lovely chill in the air that made all the unhealthy food from the many street stands taste just a tad bit better. Not that he had gotten a chance to try any as had been talked into, although he was still unsure how working with his twin sister at a stand she wanted to run. Sapphire, like the schemer she was, had come up with a plan using the backlog of gems from their father's storehouses. She made some rather nice, but cheap, jewelry from those that would never make it to the Machias storefronts.
That had been the plan right up until all hell broke loose on their street. From their little stand up the road, Opal had watched with his sister as crowds grew, both humans and faunus before long clashing. Honestly, Opal was more than a bit shocked at this as he had never seen or heard of such stupidly. Watching with cliché fist, the young man tried his best to stay calm as somebody yelled more and more hate out into the chilly night air.
While the man with the loudspeaker made him angry, the rest just made him sad to watch. While he was only half faunus, he knew to some that were more than enough to hate you. But still to give in and take the bait that this man had set out before them. He had known what he was doing coming here where tension was higher and started spilling his propaganda. He had wanted a fight, and now he would wave a hand, and now with "proof" shows they were just animals.
"Sappy, stay here. I'm going to try and help." He said before running on in a jog before his twin could protest. He did not want to get involved with something like this, but it seemed others were already beginning to help. He thought anyway, but as he got closer, he soon realizes this was a much bigger mess than he had ever felt. And the hell was up with that pumpkin!?
Before he could get close enough, even try to help or try to stop anyone, the fighting broke out! Not that he was surprised with how much the man with the loudspeaker was still going on. He thought for a moment of either freezing them or at least freezing his mouth shut but might make it worst. Allow him to play the victim of some evil faunus attack. No, he needed to try something that would get both sides' attention, and it seemed the broken pipes might be just what he needed.
Tiring his long hair back and tossing his jacket to the side Opal jogged toward the sea of body and limb. Reaching the edged, he used the broken pipe's water to freeze upward in a pillar, launching him up into the air. From there, he took a moment to take it all in, and frankly, it was a mess. While it seemed the protester had numbers on their side, the faunus had more than a few auras users. He even felt like he knew from the academy, well more like seen around more than knew personally.
Snapping back to his plan, Opal pulled his feet together, coating them with a frosty aura sending out a wave of ice on the flooded street all around him as he touched down. A layer of hard blue ice formed under everyone with a 12 meters radius around, causing most, if not all, to fall onto their ass. It felt like someone had just uppercut him right in the gut as Opal felt the drain on his aura. While he might be skilled with making and forming with his ice, creating that much that fast was never a fun time. Still, he did his best to hide it as he took a deep breath and shouted.
"THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU ALL!? DO YOU WANT TO SUMMON A HODLE OF GRMM'S? CAUSE YOU DOING A HELL OF A JOB!" He shouted, trying to get his voice over the loudspeaker. Despite his small size, he could be and offend needed to be louder than most. "You guys going to let some racist piece of shit bait you into a fight? To show that he now "right" about faunus?" Making finger quotes in the air while looking around. If he had to guess, it was the whole reason someone like him was even this far down into the Wind District. He did not think this stopped all the fighting, but sometimes most people just needed that moment to step back and look at what they were doing to see just how dumb it was. He hopes that some might do that, and he didn't end up with a punch in the face for his efforts.

[attr="class","nikki109"]The sudden movement helped, but the willingness to ram her shoulder into the people on her right multiple times and lower her weight as much as was needed really did the trick. That was all that was needed in the end, just a little bit more force and some repeated attempts to dislodge herself from the retreating crowd. Once out of there, gray eyes scanned the area to find out where the fuck she was as she didn’t exactly know how far she had been shoved down the line. By the look of it, at least a block because while she could still hear the guy on the loudspeaker talking it wasn’t like she had even one protestor in her field of view. [break][break]
Fuck. [break][break]
She broke into a sprint back to the sound of the loudspeaker, but even then, it wasn’t like she was going to make it there very quickly. Try as she might, she just wasn’t athletic in that sense. She was just always slow as fuck, and there was nothing she could do about it, so she eventually just gave up. One city block wasn’t a big distance, yeah, but it felt like a frustrating distance moving at the speed of an average out of shape person sprinting down because they left the oven on one day. It was so annoying when she was forced to go to the action rather than the action coming to her like it normally did. [break][break]
This was only a factor when time was an issue, and unfortunately now time was a pretty big fucking issue. Every second the fighting was going on was a second for that powder keg to ignite into something bigger and more dangerous for everyone involved… well not her, specifically, but you get the point. The longer this went on, the bigger the mess at the end would be to clean up. All she needed to do was get a visual on the guy, and the loudspeaker would be gone. A precision shot on the inside of it would make it inoperable without melting too much plastic and causing the guy to panic and fling molten plastic and whatever the fuck was inside a megaphone on people. Wires and machinery bits, probably. She knew enough to make it not work was the point. [break][break]
The seconds that it took to double back felt like minutes, and sure enough she found the back of the formation and the group of Confederation thugs. The Confederation of Humanity was a human supremacist group masquerading as a political party, with their buddies the Order of Animan Nationalists to be their hammer to smash all their enemies with should things get bloody. These weren’t OAN, though, because if they were OAN this entire street would be a bloodbath. No, this was grassroots support most likely with the main agitator being the only one who might have come from elsewhere. It was possible she was wrong, but these types were never really keen on sharing their backstory and even if they were she couldn’t honestly say that she cared all that much about their sob story. [break][break]
Standing atop the vendor’s stand, he was very conspicuous at least. Confederation patches lined his ratty denim jacket, and a bunch of thugs surrounded him trying to be his protection squad and defend him from physical harm. Once he was in her sights, the megaphone was toast. A snap of her fingers meant that the megaphone shorted out due to a very concentrated application of fire that fried the insides and partially melted the end to be inoperable. What she didn’t expect, however, was for the speaker to be nimble enough to actually get away and reposition himself. Jumping down from the vendor’s stand and using his thugs as shields with several of them running towards Alina herself at this point, he managed to remove himself from her field of view and prevented any follow up action from her much more quickly than she anticipated. [break][break]
The thugs charged her, and it was an opportunity to see whether they were ringers or not. The first one threw a solid punch which was sidestepped easily, and then Alina kicked his feet out from under him which sent the guy falling down on his back. The second one grabbed a switchblade from his pocket and the white haired faunus got it out of his hands with step to the left when he lunged and a side kick to the ribs that sent the guy tumbling down. The third one thought he was clever and decided to try and sneak up behind her, but was too loud and the former soldier just deep crouched to avoid the bear hug and performed a spinning kick while in that position to knock the legs out from under the third guy as well and floor him. [break][break]
The problem wasn’t any inherent danger in the fighting itself, the problem was time, just like it always was. She was stalled, and that was all that really mattered. By the time she looked up again, she had no idea where the hell the guy had scampered off to and no doubt, he’d get another megaphone before long and start crying about how he was unfairly attacked or whatever. Getting to him the second time was going to be much harder than the first, because the scuffle attracted the attention of some of the other Confederation thugs and it would take her some time to fight her way through to get another shot at the leader unless he was an idiot and jumped up on another wooden stand. There was no doubt that she’d eventually stop the ranting, but as of now the guy was just using his obnoxiously loud normal voice to scream over the din and project his voice not quite as far as with the megaphone but certainly still a long distance nevertheless. He called attention to the fact he was being chased, and the few people who turned towards Alina turned into quite a number of them, though that did mean that in theory she was redirecting attention that would have otherwise gone into the brawl so… small victories? On top of her giant pumpkin, Holly had a front row all access seat of all the chaos that surrounded this particular stretch of the Wind District. Her orange fruit had become the size of a car and placed her on an elevated position that should honestly be one of the savest places one could be in the struggle. [break] [break]
It allowed Holly to be all alone for enough time to completely loose it. [break] [break]
The noise was what actually did it. The continued fighting that surrounded her. The shouting and the screaming of people being hurt. She could hear talk of Grimm, people in pain and anger. She could see flashes of red as people started to get minor injuries, but every small speck of red to Holly would have had the impact of seeing a river of blood. She swore that she could smell it. Smoke and blood, she...she could see ice and snow. Houses, ruined buildings. Grimm? Yes, Grimm. These people were fighting for their lives. She only needed to look up, and with her glazed-over eyes she was certain that she could see Lancers. Flying, flying everywhere! Fighting on a scale that Holly had only experienced once before in her life.[break] [break]

Her body tensed. Her breath nearly stopped. She blinked for a moment, shaking her head. Something wasn't right. Something in the back of her mind told her that something wasn't right. She was here to help. Help these people fight. Defend themselves. They couldn't be fighting each other. Grimm, yes...the Grimm she saw! They were fighting them! Her head darted around. Seeing hungry teeth in shadows. She could see Nasrin and... Kishka. They were supposed to be there. Also, Carmim...yes. That woman...Rose...she was in the building with Holly...why..why was she outside on the streets? It wasn't safe! She doesn't have aura! Colton should help her? Where is Colton? He wasn't here? Was he taken? Was he dead? Qiu'li also wasn't here! Did they got the both of them?[break] [break]
Holly hadn't been in any large engagement since Rochdale. She had honestly never fully recovered after those days. People called her crazy behind her back. They looked at her crazy antics and either thought them amusing, or the works of an insane person. Teachers had tried to talk to her, and while she had been pulled out of the worst of her horrible responses, everybody with half a brain could see that not everything was working a 100% up there inside of that brain of hers. She was honestly a ticking timebomb that had gone off at the worst possible moment.[break] [break]
Right now she thought she was back in Rochdale. Back in that snow-struck, Grimm-infested town under siege. Even if somewhere in there she knew that not everything was as it should be, her body responded as if she was in a life or death situation. In Rochdale she knew that fleeing was not an option, so she fought. More so, she hid in a building and coordinated others to fight. That was her first reaction now as well. Still crouched down on all fours on her pumpkin, Holly screamed out towards people that weren't actually there, pointing at shadows in her mind. [break] [break]
"Clementine! Keep up the shots!"[break] [break]
Clementine is dead. Shadecloak's barrage from the airship killed her. She orphaned two children.[break] [break]
"Trava! I see wounded! Save them!"[break] [break]
Trava is dead. She never made it to the airship. Holly had checked her name three times among the refugees. [break] [break]
"Tommy! Where are you? Where have you gone?! TOMMY! GRANDPA! HE IS WAITING!"[break] [break]
Tommy is dead. You know what happened to him. You saw his skull shot open. He is dead. You killed him. You didn't protect him.[break] [break]
Like a woman possessed, Holly looked around. She could now see people screaming and falling and getting eaten by Grimm all around. There was a battlefield. Holly blinked a few times. She had her weapon on her arm. Cutter...Yes...Holly activated the weapon and tried to attack at the flying Grimm that were all around her. To anyone else, Holly was slashing at the air into nothing. This harmless display of an insane person became less cute when she detached the weapon from her arm. Her old weapon had a ranged feature, and she thought this was still that old weapon in her mind. It flew through the sky and into the direction of the mob. Looking at her hands that had been slowly pouring her aura into something, Holly had a realisation. It weren't the planks of the safehouse. It was...she was on a pumpkin...yes, wait. Why...was she on a pumpkin? It...[break] [break]
...it changed things...[break] [break]
In Rochdale, Holly was severally limited by one single limitation. She never could make full use of her semblance, didn't thought she needed it. She was there to hold a sock-puppet show for the children! [break] [break]
Now though...she had something to defend herself. To defend others! She could save everyone! She needed to be strong! She needed to be stop being useless! Not hold back! Give it her all![break] [break]
To any onlookers the pumpkin on which Holly had been losing it had started to glow magenta again, and it was now the size of a large mini-bus. The vine that had previously carried Holly up the fruit had started to grow in size and split into different limbs to fit the monstrous pumpkin. The face carved into it had turned into something demonic now, not even resembling its previous depiction. Like a terrifying omen it loomed over the mob below. Holly looked down from her pumpkin, her eyes in a mixture of fear and anger. She bellowed from the top of her lungs.[break] [break]
"I WILL NOT LET YOU TAKE ANYONE ELSE!"[break] [break]
And with that she unleashed the full power of her semblance. The vines spun and whipped as if they were metal cables that snapped after having too much tension on them. Their magenta glow indicated that their durability and impact were more like steel than plant-matter. They swung widely into the air, hitting the shadow images in her mind that she saw everywhere. While her fury was directed upward, if this same threat was directed just a bit lower it would cause a major tragedy.[break] [break]
Holly was too busy with using her full power to give any other thought to whatever was around her. She wasn't aware of the results that her carnage could possibly inflict. She never truly let go like this. Never used to full extent of her potential like this. She could feel her connection with the pumpkin like it was another arm. This wasn't like she gave it a part of herself, like with her usual plants. She would have burn through her aura quickly, her total destruction couldn't take longer than a minute with this amount of power. [break] [break]
[break] [break]
Holly was this pumpkin.[break] [break]
She did this.[break] [break]
In her mind she was striking at an endless horde of flying Grimm.[break] [break]
She could protect people! She could save everyone! Nobody else had to die! Ryan would love her! Everything would be perfect and nothing bad will happen! HOLLY WILL BE HAPPY! [break] [break]

KISHKA BURZANOVA
"Oh, I'm sure I won't- your lawyers play golf with my parents on the weekends, and if they don't, then I wish them good luck in the courtroom." It brought a smug smile to her face, as she sneered down at the fleeing hags, having defeated them at long last. Sure, she had told them to apologize, and they hadn't, but she had frankly expected that much.
Her smug stance was quickly torn out from under her, though, as Holly sprung at her with a quickness she rarely expected from the little botanist. After a moment of surprise, she smiled and returned the hug. She was getting better at those. "No problem, Holly. Hopefully they won't try to bother you anymore." She doubted they'd be coming back for a while- of course, she expected them to come back. She wasn't an idiot. But it would be a good minute before they did.
Holly leaned up to kiss her on the cheek, which she normally might have swerved away from, considering her usual discomfort with all of the touchy close contact Holly seemed to enjoy so much, but this once, she let the pinkette express her gratitude as she wished. That still didn't stop the little uncomfortable wince-smile as she accepted the cheek kiss, though.
And then her friend was off, going to go fix uh...
Something.
There was a hell of a lot going on, honestly. Which just left Kishka trying to figure out what to do. She contemplated heading back up to the Cloud, really, considering all of the chaos. Ground District was fun sometimes, but she had to remind herself that this was the slums, and arguably the worst place to go during the festival. Which didn't mean it was bad, or not fun, just that it was inarguably the sketchiest of the three districts when it came to things like this. And this year seemed especially bad for some reason.
As she contemplated what to do next, she mostly just stayed where she was, observing as shit hit the fan so goddamn hard, it must have splattered all the way across the kingdom. Some fuckhead human supremacist assholes were stirring up a riot, a water pipe was busted, and suddenly Holly was sitting on a giant pumpkin, and then, when it seemed like shit couldn't get much worse, everyone and their mother started rolling up to yell at the loudmouth with a megaphone, instead of just ignoring him until he got tired and fucked off.
As much as she generally believed in punching racism away, one swing at a time, she knew that this was exactly what that jackass wanted. He was feeding off of the hate, even, using it to fuel his speech- Bianca said the men who attacked Kerch killed every Faunus they could find, he rebutted that if they hadn't been in Mistral at all, Kerch would have never happened. Sending them home to Menagerie was "for everyone's own good, and in their best interest."
Yeah, right.
But it seemed to be working, somehow. People were drawn to sensationalism, and ruled by fear, so the more he spat hate-fueled noise about the Faunus, the more of a crowd he managed to draw. And unfortunately, the faunus with a weapon, and a massive earthen wall, wasn't doing much to disprove his insane troll logic. Poor Bianca... Kishka had to give her props for trying to shut him up, at least. Maybe she should head over and help her out...
Which she started to do, when she saw Nasrin approach, and audibly groaned. This was going to help things, definitely.
Because a loudmouthed protestor absolutely needed a loudmouthed punk kid screaming at him. That would surely calm the crowds down. And then, when she got them all chilled out, as she obviously would, she would likely just skate off again, like she'd done before. What a bitch.
At least she was right- that made it a little more bearable, watching the skater throw fuel on the flames. She disappeared behind the wall, along with the zillion faunus-rights protestors who'd come out of nowhere to support her.
Yup.
Nasrin was making this worse.
There was going to be a fight, and it would be all her fault.
Kishka took off, immediately, at her full speed, towards the wall, deftly sliding around the perimeter until she came to the edges, where she approached the scene before her. Yeah, it was bad.
Protestors fighting protestors, some crazy-ass white-haired chick bashing heads in with her sheathed sword (including Nasrin's head, which was kinda funny, or well, would have been if this weren't a much more serious situation), Rose came in soon after, sword swinging, and then the wall came down.
The whole time, Kishka was just trying to make some fucking sense of what was happening, as she easily dodged the flying projectiles and stray swings from the protestors. This was absolutely not how she had planned to spend her day- the Karens were one thing, but this? Fucking hell, man.
"For fuck's sake, this is the one- watch it!- day a year I want everyth- hey!!- everything to go right, and this is what happens... Ugh..."
Some white-haired kid came running up (wasn't that like, the fourth one she'd seen that day?) to yell at everyone, his voice getting pretty much drowned out in the noise like everything else. That was why she wasn't even bothering. Hell, there was basically no fucking point to her even being there, in all honesty. Wasn't much she could do but join the melee herself, and that sure as hell wasn't happening. This whole thing was out of control.
Almost reminded her of...
Rochdale.
Fuck. Holly.
The thought occurred to her just a moment too late- immediately, her gaze shot around, trying to catch sight of the pink-haired girl atop her pumpkin. And she found her... Screaming orders to ghosts.
Fuck...
"Holly? H-holly!! Fuck! Holly, stop!"
She raced forwards, shoving people to the side to get to the pumpkin, just in time to see the fucking saw blade sailing through the air. Her umbrella was out before she knew what she was doing, and she managed to catch it with the tip through the middle of the spinning wheel of death, just before it would have collided with some poor dude's chest. Immediately, she flung it hard towards the ground, to stop its momentum, and to make sure she didn't accidentally rip anyone open with it, while it was caught on her umbrella, then she grabbed it carefully with her offhand, continuing to approach Holly.
She hadn't been very successful at breaking up the crowd, largely because she couldn't even get to breaking up the crowd. But who cared about that? Holly was flipping her absolute shit, and Kishka's entire objective was suddenly making sure that her friend didn't do anything she would regret.
And making sure nobody hurt her- she distinctly remembered catching a glimpse of a wall of white fire earlier. Whoever that was meant business, and that business was no good for a gardener.

HAVE YOU SEEN HER? HAVE YOU HEARD? THE WAY SHE MOVES, THERE ARE NO WORDS
Ugh...
Rescuing people was a lot of work!
But at least she wasn't stuck doing it alone. After making her second, incredibly slow, trip from the crash site to the medics, she was shambling back, and decided to get to know the green-haired guy a little better. He seemed pretty focused on helping these people, so she wasn't going to distract him from that too much, but while they were heading back towards the people to help, she figured it was as good an opportunity as any. "I am glad t'at I am not t'e only one helping to get t'ese poor people to safety. T'ough I do wish t'at t'ere were more people helping us... T'ere are so many of t'em, I do not know how we will ever get t'em all to-"
Suddenly, she heard a loud commotion, from off in the distance. From where she stood, it looked like a miniature riot, with a definitely-not miniature pumpkin, upon which was seated... Holly?
It looked like Holly. Her pumpkin had grown vines, and they were thrashing in the air, which Carmim at first assumed to be some kind of silly dance for the rioters, to calm them down, but the panicked expression of the protestors closest to the pumpkin, and the purple-haired girl's frantic shouting at her teammate told Carmim that this was a very different kind of situation.
She knew Holly pretty well, and she knew how crazy she had gotten since Rochdale. But she'd never expected that Holly would turn into a Qiu'li. And in Mistral, too...
But unlike Qiu'li, she was going to make this right. She had to make it right, dammit. Because Rochdale was her fault, and if she didn't stop Holly before those vines started lurching towards the ground, then nobody would.
She stopped in place, scanning the area right behind Holly, from her perspective- nothing but a small empty lot for people to park their vehicles and bikes, which was thankfully lower to the ground than the huge pumpkin, and the air-slashing vines. It was a perfect shot.
"Do not worry, everybody! Stay calm, and please take cover! T'ose vines are very dangerous!! Do not be afraid, I will stop her!"
She took her stance, legs spread, and feet firmly planted in the ground, as she tipped her drum back, levelling it towards the vines over Holly's head. She had to be careful- which was hard, because she was terrified, a sinking feeling hitting her stomach. This was the first time she had had to use her semblance at full strength in a long time... And she remembered all too well what happened the last time she'd done so...
But she steeled her resolve. She would not- could not, let Holly cause another Rochdale.
She leaned back over her shoulder towards Flynn. "Please cover your ears, friend. I do not want to hurt t'em by mistake."
Returning her gaze to Holly, she took aim, and she brought down her hand, bringing with it an incredible cacophony of thunder, which could be heard clear across the Festival. The air rippled in front of her drumhead, as the sheer force knocked her hand back, digging her heels into the ground, as the powerful cone of hardened air rocketed forth and...
Missed its mark. It smashed into a few of the vines, shredding their upper halves, and ripping the tips of them off, but she had overshot, sending her blast too high up, out of fear of hitting anybody lower to the ground.
"Dang. Hmmm..." She frowned in annoyance, and began to level another shot at Holly.
The next one wouldn't miss.

So, things went about as well as Opal had guessed it would. Taking a step back he bobbed and weaved between punches and kicks. It seemed that after his little stunts many could not make out which side, he was on, so he became the target of both sides. Guess it did not help that his ice had slip up everyone and he doubt anyone had really heard him to begin with. While he might have stunned a few people with is little ice trick his voice however could not make it over the loudspeaker. Opal had to give man credit for his iron lungs as he was not sure if the protester had taken a breath since the start of his rant.
Thankfully, Opal were more then used to fighting atop ice allowing him to keep out of reach while trying to come up with a plan B. That was up until the sounds of the rant disappear. Glancing up at the man Opal was happy to see the loudspeaker as best he could tell melt away, someone semblance no doubt. He was thankful the person had not attacked the man directly as this have gotten worst quickly. Little did Opal know it was already.
With loudspeaker now out of the action Opal once again went about trying to get people to stop. Having dodge more than a few attacks while he yelled, quickly giving up on that idea. The anger and panic had already set in making it pointless to get through to some. Worst some might have just wanted a fight to begin with. However, Opal froze as he heard another scream, coming a voice he knew. Looking up at the pink hair girl atop the pumpkin Opal wonder how he have not seen her sooner. “HOLLY!?” He shouted more out loud then at her.
Something was very wrong as it seemed Holly might be having some sort of panic attack. While Opal fully sure if Holly was all there in the head from their talks at the academy, he knew enough she was not to sort that wanted to hurt others. Well mostly. “Holly! Move!” He shouted as he slid to the edge of the ice and started to push through the sea of bodies. Were these people stupid or something? Did they not see the growing vines right in front of them?
However, his smaller size did not really help much as her tired to push thought only to be knocked side to side then forward. He was about to form another ice pillar when he heard another voice in the confusion calling for Holly. A blue hair girl that seemed familiar, but he could not place the face. Not this was the time for remembering people face. It seemed she knew Holly from the sound of her own shouts for her to stop.
Thanking quickly Opal got as close as he could to the blue girl before stumping his foot on the water on the ground. Sending a wave of aura out to quickly form a staircase of ice up before the blue girl, knocking more then a few people to the side in the process. Twisting his hand to make the ice step rougher to remover some of the slipping. It did not fully reach all the way up to Holly, but it would allow someone a much easier path and jumping point. That is if the vines did not smash it first…
“If you can stop her, go!” He shouted at the girl over a few knocked bodies as he hurried forward. He was not fool enough to thing he could stop something that big, but he could do the next best thing. Watching as the vines whips around like some sort of crazed dance. Many coming far to close to the people around who seemed to be just now seeing this monster behind them. Slamming another foot down into the water Opal formed a wall of ice up just in time to deflect a vine from crushing a pair that just moment ago was fighting.
While the ice was not strong enough to fully block the vine, he could at best deflect them and at worst soften the blows. “Go! Move! Get back!” He started shouting as he pulled people back away from the pumpkin. Even now he feels the sweat covering his body from the effort. He was still a bit winded from his first full release and this was not helping. “Stop fighting and help before she accidentally hurt someone!” He turned to some people he had noticed in the fight that might have also been from the academy. He was afraid in this, whatever this was, that Holly end up hurting someone. Or worst.

The brawl kept going for a while. No matter how many I left incapacitated, there seemed to be no end to them, even with the help of the other Haven students. It looked like we were going to be trapped in there for a while.
As I was busy controlling the crowd, I managed to see Kishka approaching from the sidelines, just in time to stop a spinning projectile aimed at the crowd in general... That was strange. The weapon itself looked strangely familiar... Curious, I turned around just in time to see Holly. Freaking out. Screaming at people who I didn’t know but who probably weren’t there at all.
And then she screamed and began to grow.
Well, she didn’t physically grow herself. But her mount began to do so, getting bigger, and more dangerous with every passing second. The manifestation of Holly’s soul going haywire and trashing violently in every direction, deadly whips of vegetal mater sliced the air around her. Moving with an evident force more than able to cut through a bullhead if necessary.
I felt a sense of dread wash over me. As I saw my friend slowly transform before my mind’s eye. For a moment, she wasn’t the hurting girl who was unhealthily obsessed with Ryan. She wasn’t that frail-looking trainee who had asked me to kill her that night in the café.
Right now, she was a glowing red sign of danger looming all over the street. She was a menace on the level only a few huntsmen and huntresses manage to achieve.
This amount of destructive power was everything I had been told to avoid before. The kind of monsters Garrik always told me to be wary of. The ones only he could tackle head-on... But he wasn’t here. And I couldn’t simply run away to safety. I could. But I shouldn’t.
Because I wasn’t alone. I had people depending on me, whether they knew it or not. And right now, even this small fight was eclipsed by the imminent danger that thing possed over our heads.
Leaving the brawl behind. I began slowly walking towards the pumpkin as I evaluated my options. It was too tall to climb into. I could have probably made a staircase towards Holly with my semblance. But my previous construction had left me too drained to even consider that.
Another fuck up on my part, it seemed. This day was shaping to be full of those.
Maybe I could destroy it somehow? Cause enough damage so the whole thing collapses under its own weight and is torn apart by the water pressure? I could at least give it a try.
I saw one of the lesser vines thrashing around a little closer to the ground than the rest of its brethren. And I put all of my weight into Nereida, the spear whistled through the air as I slashed horizontally at the vine.
I could feel the mechanisms of the spear screaming in anguish and the metallic frame giving up just a second before the whole thing exploded into pieces. Leaving me standing there with a flabbergasted expression on my face. As I was left holding what was pretty much a particularly long stick of metal and nothing else.
-...Eh?...- I stupidly asked the space in front of me, my eyes wide as I gazed upon the impenetrable fortress that was Holly’s pumpkin. There was no use in trying to attack it. I had given it my best shot and, in the end, the result had been... Nereida’s pieces scattered in the ground, and not even a scratch in the pumpkin.
The vine reacted, nonetheless. And I had to roll away to avoid getting squashed in more than one sense of the word. It was a powerful attack, but a sloppy one. It was clear Holly didn’t hadn't directed the plant to attack me directly. Else things may have been way uglier for me.
Stumbling back. I looked around me. The girl with the ice powers had managed to calm and separate the majority of the protestors from Holly’s semblance. But there was still that asshole with the loudspeaker, trying to encourage his allies to do... I’m not even sure. To charge against the pumpkin and die a martyr’s death so he could use that to push his own agenda? Probably something along those lines.
On the sidelines, people were still being evacuated, some more successfully than others. Some were more hurt than others from the previous all-out fight. And ice queen was doing the best thing she could to aid in that regard.
My musings were interrupted by the deafening sound of a nearby shockwave. And before I could turn around to see. A branch of the deadly plant had been blown off the gourd. I looked behind me and saw Carmim Clover lining another shot.
Her semblance had been capable of actually damaging the construct. So she was probably our best chance of stopping this madness... Facing the pumpkin again, I steeled my resolve and sharpened my senses as I felt a familiar sense of general numbness wash over me. It was time to go to work.
If I couldn’t be a spear, then I would at least be a shield for them.
I circled around the gourd. Keeping an eye open for any leash that seemed particularly close to striking the ground or a nearby civilian. Even if it was only remotely close to them. I wouldn’t take any chances, I would strike at the offending vine with the remainings of Nereida. Baiting its attacks and diverting its attention away from everyone else.
Then, it was all on me to avoid getting stuck by the retaliation blows... After all, it was my job to try and protect these people. It wasn’t a lot, but it was the best I could come up with. No use simply staying on the sidelines.
We had to take these people away from here, and fast. And as much as it pained me to admit it, I wasn’t the best-suited one for the work. Shadecloack’s lessons had been useful, but I had sucked at rescuing people nonetheless. With my semblance, I would have been able to keep up. But as my aura reserves were already almost exhausted, that was out of the question.
So instead. I would keep doing the best I could, while I hoped someone better suited for the job could come in and put an end to this.

[break]
[attr="class","nikki109"]It was easy to bust through even the half-dozen wannabes without any aura that decided to come over and try their luck. She was nicer than perhaps she should have and did her best to avoid breaking bones when she incapacitated them. She didn’t succeed all the time, especially if they decided to bum rush a little too fast and hit the ground with all the force they were trying to generate, but that was their problem and not hers. Using her hands in a fight felt weird, but they had a lot less of a chance to actually snap someone’s leg or something due to her lack of physical strength. Dodging attacks was a waste of energy when those attacks were incapable of hurting her, but it was force of habit more than anything and at this point she was just going to keep doing it to keep muscle memory alive for when she needed it. [break][break]
In the middle of flooring one of the goons, there was some loud noises and she looked up to catch some of what was going on towards the front of the crowds a decent distance away from her. Some yelling, sure, but what really caught her eye was the fact that there was a giant pumpkin with flailing vines and a nutjob at the top of it seeming to use her semblance to cause the thing to jerk around in some bizarre and very dangerous show of force. The only thing that stopped her from blasting her semblance right then and there was the fact that she couldn’t guarantee that everything she hit would be vaporized, and the molten remnants of the attack could very well catch a lot of things on fire and/or fall on people. [break][break]
She always carried a pair of plant dust infused gloves with her, just in case, but the potential collateral damage was too high. If just a bit of that napalm fell off in the wrong direction, it would burn through anything it touched on the way down. Even if a full incineration happened and everything touched but some of the jelly was turned to ash, it could still cause unacceptable collateral damage above and beyond what the threat was right then. It was a danger, yes, but not worth the risk of intervening right that second. She hadn’t caught the saw blade coming down, because if she had there would have been absolutely zero hesitation in dusting that bitch before it was even blocked. She was a good distance away, but Alina’s kill range was really far these days and the distance wasn’t a problem if she used her semblance and gloves. [break][break]
Without that extra bit of motivation, she was kind of stuck because if she knew for a fact that the aura break would happen on the first second, she would have tried it, but the thought of a not substantial enough hit causing the plants to point downwards instead of upwards in the death throes of a madwoman was enough to give her pause. The area was just too crowded to be letting loose that much fire, especially when the more she generated the harder it was to actually fine tune the control. [break][break]
The guy who was sprouting the propaganda was back with a megaphone somewhere, emboldened by this display of force and using it to now denounce those around him as sinners for letting the faunus live among them and that this display of force was just the way the universe had of righting wrongs or other such nonsense. The crowd had no idea what the fuck to do at this point and seemed to be running around like chickens with their heads cut off, just as likely to get away as they were to run up to the danger and put themselves into harm’s way. Someone would need to grab their attention with something and get them to safety, but that wasn’t her problem right now… she needed to be ready to dust the maniac if they started pointing their semblance downwards, and hopefully also find that megaphone guy and stop him from making this worse along the way. [break][break]
She started to sprint in the direction of the megaphone before there was an extremely loud bang that even made the megaphone guy shut up for several seconds and stopped Alina in her tracks to look at what the fuck did it. Well, she would if the person who did it was visible. She had no idea what it was, but the top of the vines seemed to be damage so whatever it was it seemed to be attacking the top of the pumpkin without any collateral damage so that was fine. As long as whatever got shot up didn’t come down, things looked pretty good aside from the extremely loud noises. That was helpful, because it meant she could continue chasing the idiot with the megaphone and get another crack at it unless the vine situation got worse. [break][break]
Staying within fifty yards of the pumpkin wasn’t a hard ask, and she constantly looked over to reassess the situation and see if she needed to step in. Her gloves were zippered up in a pocket inside of her leather jacket, easily accessible in a couple of seconds if need be especially now that she had a bit of warning before she’d need to do it. She saw a wall of ice get smashed by a vine that drifted a bit too close to the brawl that was abruptly stopping in the face of the new threat, and the back of her right hand itched. [break][break]
Not yet. She’d give whoever was blasting upwards a chance to end this, or a chance for the idiot to break their own aura before anyone got hurt. The second more people were getting hurt than her potential collateral from a semblance blast would do, she was pulling the trigger. If other people could handle it more cleanly, that’d be ideal, but Alina was pretty sure she could get all the excess napalm on top of a building somewhere that was most likely unoccupied or simply straight down from the pumpkin itself so that it would only rip holes into that. Probably. [break][break]

Sometimes, knocking someone's teeth out wasn't enough to get them to listen. However, a giant pumpkin thrashing about and tearing apart the ground could get people to pause and wonder if what they were doing was reasonable.
As the pumpkin grew, Red let go of the sleeve she was tugging at to stare. She swore the gods were really unfair with who they granted super powers to. It was already stupid at the size it was at before, but this was just excessive. Did the pipe explode inside of it or something? No, it was glowing magenta and nothing in pipes would make it do that. Her arm dropped to her side. She couldn't hear what Holly was doing over the sound of the crowd, but there was no way all that thrashing was going to be anything good. Her tactic turned from looking angry to looking like her normally panicked self and telling all the people nearby she could to get away from that thing because it couldn't be anything good.
And she still had to listen to racist nonsense while all this was happening. Fucking hell.
Once the vines came out of the ground in full force some people stopped, some people ran, and some people were way into fighting and didn't stop until some kid with long light blue hair started shouting at them. That it took someone telling them to run away from the obvious danger to get them to do it was all kinds of absurd, but she was used to that from people. People could get real invested in fights and probably didn't know how to react to giant pumpkins suddenly attacking the sky.
For her part, she told the Kozaks with in ear shot to get out and to try to direct people, but it was going to be pretty hard for them to manage the stampede of people trying to get away. It was worse than the goats from before. As much as she wanted to stay and help, the people closest to the pumpkin that couldn't get away were in more danger. For now, it looked like they'd only be knocked about a bit, but she had no way of knowing how long that would be true as long as Holly was still freaking out about...something. Pulling people that were stuck or injured from the brawl was her first priority.
She ran into the crowd, not the slightest bit worried about being pushed around or trampled, or that she might have to hurt someone. No, her body turned a burnt orange and she just went right through them. Sticking the landing so she could jump again without sinking into the ground or getting knocked over was the hard part, but it didn't matter if she lost a little bit of ground trying to get her footing. This was still far faster than dealing with the crowd or going around.
Unfortunately, she was only strong enough to carry one or two people at a time and it was going to get taxing on her aura pretty fast. The pumpkin was probably still small enough for her to phase it into the ground, but she wasn't sure if having the vines erupting through the ground again would be any safer than just leaving it there. All she was doing by moving people around or hiding the pumpkin was treating the symptoms. If she really wanted to do something, she needed to treat the source. Unfortunately, getting close to Holly was going to be one hell of a task.
That was when she heard a thundering boom. The sheer volume of the noise was enough to get her to jump and then freeze. It was fortunate that she was going back into the fray and wasn't carrying anyone yet because the vines managed to knock her around a bit while she was startled. Enough to let her phase through the crowd again and end up next to the girl with the fluffy red hair and the drum that almost certainly caused that noise in the first place. Red sighed. As much as she hated the idea of working with Carmim again, she knew that the girl had a pretty destructive semblance and, based on that boom before, she probably wasn't even using a fraction of her power back in the elevator. Carmim could probably do more damage than she could, and this needed to stop fast.
"Hey," she waved, got to her feet, then offered her back. "Do you need a better angle?"
Alina would have been here first choice, she had no idea where her friend was right now. Alina was somewhere in that crowd, but with as dense as it was and as short as Alina was, it'd take too much time to find her. Plus, if Alina thought she'd be able to do something without causing more damage via setting a giant pumpkin on fire, she probably would have by now.

The enemy is everywhere. People are in danger. Hope is lost.[break] [break]
These thoughts kept flashing through Holly's mind. Over and over again. [break] [break]
With all her might the pumpkin's vines struck at the air above the crowd, the sound of which resembled the cracking of whips though as if their movements were amplified with a heavy bass. She had lost the ability to perceive much at the moment beyond her own delusions, and Kishka's simple attempt to get Holly to stop with what she was doing could as well be said against a wall.[break] [break]
Carmim's attack...was not possible to ignore for two reasons.[break] [break]
The first was the obvious loud sound that blasted out over the square. Something that intense was something that not even the crazed botanist could ignore, though in her head it was not so much Carmim's trusty drum that made this ear shattering sound. To Holly it would sound like the unmistakable sound of a heavy machine gun blasting a salvo right around her that drowned out any other sound. Holly would have tried to duck prone was it not for another effect of the attack that consumed her every fiber. [break] [break]
Because the second reason was...more gruesome. At the moment Holly had such an intense emotional reaction that she couldn't compare with anything else that had happened to her before. When she previously attacked Rose and Fable in the classroom when she defended herself, it was just a momentary lapse that she was able to be quickly pulled out from again. What was currently happening was different. In her primal flight or fight reaction, she had pulled everything she had into the use of her semblance. All her aura, but also to her mind more than that. [break] [break]
Holly sometimes described her plants as her children. Despite it being cute, there was some truth in it on how she experienced her semblance. It was as if she was putting a tiny part of her in the plants she grew. At this moment, so much of her raw power was flowing into this pumpkin, that on a certain level she was starting to loose the distinction. If that much of your very essence is being poured into something else, where does the 'you' end? [break] [break]
Sure, pull her off the pumpkin and it will stop moving, but in the subjective experience of Holly, this would feel more as if you were cutting her in half than say simply dismounting a rider from its horse. [break] [break]
So, when Carmim's bop 'missed' Holly, and simply hit the raging mess of vines... Holly could feel it. Her brain couldn't properly process how it should feel about all of this, and registered the entire experience as a form of phantom pain. Holly experienced as if a part of her own skin was being violently being shredded by a cheese grater. As if her own fingers were being lopped of by an axe. The thoroughly demented girl screamed it out as she was being further pulled into her madness by this extreme sensation of pain that she couldn't describe ever having felt before in her life. She was being mutilated. She was in danger.[break] [break]
Holly was covered in sweat from the ordeal. She was like a maimed animal, now aware that the threat she envisioned was real and there were things around her that could hurt her.[break] [break]
Another attack followed, though comparatively it was the difference between having a dagger lunged between your ribs and cutting yourself on a piece of paper. Still, being now more aware that something was out to hurt her a second time, the vine responded almost instinctively by swatting away in the direction of the fickle threat. [break] [break]
All in all, two attacks were enough for her basic instinct to know she could get attacked again.[break] [break]
Two of the larger vines that struck mindlessly in the air stayed silent in the air for a moment. As if they were snakes waiting for a moment to strike. Though their menace was ill-placed, as they moved towards the head of the pumpkin and started to coil around the hapless plant-girl in a cone shape. In a more cheerful setting, it would like like the pumpkin had a birthday hat. Currently, it looked like the Kaiju had a murder horn that wanted to stab the heavens to see if it could bleed.[break] [break]
Like how a person being beaten on the ground would defend his head with his arms, the vines made circles around Holly to protect her. Sure, you can still go to town on the rest of the body, but it was still a protection of the most vital part of the body to keep functioning. [break] [break]
The amount of vines that still trashed around the pumpkin didn't diminish the threat of the pumpkin in any way, as the loss of two vines was made up for by the rest covering more distance and becoming even more erratic in their movements.[break] [break]
Holly had lost her sense of self, and she didn't even made another sound other than the pained screams she gave earlier, now heavily muffled through her cocoon of vines. [break] [break]
