Normally, she would have been paying more attention to someone talking to her, but Carmim's words were about as audible to her as Carmim's Hs. The area was loud enough that it was difficult for her to tell what was going on for the most part, but she would never miss the distinct flash of white fire. Beyond being often painfully bright, it meant something to her. Seeing it in the middle of a crowd of civilians like this was rare enough. Seeing it in the middle of a crowd when Alina had been trying to avoid being noticed for the past several months meant something was wrong.
Red's body went stiff just as she finished helping Carmim stand up, soon enough that it might feel strange to the other girl. Even once Carmim removed her hand, her hand remained in the exact same position, only moving slightly because of the pull from Carmim removing her hand. She stayed like that for a good thirty seconds, not responding to Carmim's words, or even a nearby goat stepping on her foot. The only part of her that moved was her eyes, at least until she finally found Alina in the crowd.
Fuck crowds, they really were the worst.
Without even acknowledging Carmim further, she bolted off. To her it was little more than the pace she'd use for a casual jog, but it was still considerably faster than most people could even move. Going this (relatively) slow meant maneuvering through the crowd was annoying, but not super difficult as long as she stuck to the edges. She managed to catch up with Alina shortly after her friend grabbed some food. Alina was looking at something, but she didn't see what the big deal was. Some people arguing about something? It was way too crowded and loud for her to care about any of that nonsense.
There was a lot she wanted to ask Alina. If she was okay. If this happened every year. What the point of this festival even was. Most of them were just stupid questions. The others could potentially risk being unpleasant and she wasn't sure if she wanted to risk that when something was off. So, she just walked by Alina's side with her hands in her pockets, making sure to get a little further ahead until she was noticed. She wrung her hands in her pockets, trying to think of something to say, but she was interrupted by more fire. Not Alina's fire this time, it was way too dim for that. Just regular fire.
Fortunately for everyone nearby, Red was very familiar with what to do to put out a fire. Alina may have had excellent control over her semblance now, but that wasn't always the case, and her friend could not actually use her semblance to put out fires she didn't create, only spread them around. Thus, she became very familiar with fire very quickly. Such a small one didn't even register as a threat. It'd still be a problem if it spread though, so she took a second to look for the closest thing that would help her put it out. It was too big for her to stomp out, and she didn't want to take off her jacket in public like this, so she needed to something to help. That stand with all the Huntsmen shirts and merchandise looked like the perfect sacrifice to her. The cloth on some of the jackets was thick enough to smother the flames, but probably not enough to survive them. She was sure the people featured on those jackets would have no problem indirectly helping put out a fire right? She started beating down the flames and pushing anything that might help them spread away. Containing the oil was harder, but fortunately, the jackets soaked most of that up too.
Once that was done, she exhaled sharply through her nose and took her spot next to Alina, still not quite sure what to say. There was a lot she could have said, but in the end, she went for the thing she cared the least about.
"So how's the food here?"
Meanwhile, at the edge of the festival and just barely with in Red's sights, it looked like some medical personnel had shown up because of the very obvious roller coaster crash earlier. They didn't have any fancy gear or anything, and she was pretty sure she recognized them from the faunus-friendly clinic in the Ground District. So they were under equipped locals that just wanted to help the people here in all likelihood. Unfortunately, between the riots, the people very angry about politically incorrect pumpkins, the damage from the roller coaster, the animals, and all the other nonsense going on, they were having trouble getting to the injured people. They needed quick transport, and some of the people could be helped with quick treatment, but were injured enough that they had to be moved quickly but as little as possible, or traumatized enough that moving them closer to the roller coaster would be hard.
