The following message would show up both as a text alert and as an e-mail to every student at Haven Academy the morning of May 6, 25AV at approximately 06:00 hours.
Attention Haven Academy students,
I am pleased to announce that the first Huntsman Internships for the year have now officially reached sign up phase. As first years, you will accompany one of our faculty members to an active contract in some area within the Kingdom of Mistral.
As students of Class 1, you have the following missions available:
Search and Destroy with Prof. Shadecloak. Search and Destroy missions are primarily to clear out Grimm infestations when they become too large. These are either in more remote areas where big packs of Grimm happen to entrench themselves in an area or in more populated areas where a group of Grimm has begun nesting too close to an existing settlement and Huntsmen are dispatched proactively to eliminate the threat. This is a critical mission type because it prevents the creation of a pack large enough to threaten even full Huntsman Teams. It is perhaps the most common mission type, because certain types of Grimm will always form groups and continuously grow until they are wiped out. This is an explicitly combat oriented mission, so students will be given three uses of the dust of their choice in order to better combat the threat. (Maximum Slots, 4)
Perimeter Defense with Dr. Haragitanai. Perimeter Defense missions are primarily for the purpose of fortifying walls and other defenses as well as training with local defense forces in order to increase readiness against attacks both from Grimm and bandits to villages throughout the Kingdom of Mistral. This is a critical mission type that ensures that civilians are kept protected from all kinds of threats, because not everyone has the luxury of living on a mountain that is particularly hard to assault. This type of mission can escalate to Village Security where there is an active threat very easily, so students should be prepared for combat. The farther from the capital you go, the more unpredictable and dangerous the environment becomes. Students will be given one use of the dust type of their choice before leaving for this mission, as heavy combat is not expected but certainly possible. (Maximum Slots, 4)
Bounty with Dr. Jay. Bounty missions are requested when local law enforcement cannot apprehend a suspect for a variety of different reasons. Maybe they ran off into the wilderness, maybe they are Huntsman level criminals and thus outside the capabilities of most police officers, or maybe the criminal just disappeared after committing a crime notable enough for a reward to be paid on their retrieval. This is a critical mission type because it prevents dangerous and violent criminals from running wild and causing a threat to the lives of the citizens of Mistral. Combat is expected in this type of mission, but the challenge is more finding the target in a Bounty with the fighting being secondary due to the fact that in most missions of this nature the Huntsman knows at least roughly what the capabilities of the criminal is and typically even what their semblance is. Students will be given two uses of the dust type of their choice before leaving for this mission, as combat with dangerous enemies is expected. (Maximum Slots, 4)
Sign up sheets are available in the Grand Hall and will remain posted there throughout the week. You are free to speak to the individual faculty members regarding what their expectations are for each of the missions that have been laid out here with more detail, but keep in mind that each of these missions has a maximum number of students permitted to come and admission is done on a first come, first served basis. Any students caught fighting each other in order for placement in one of these missions will be removed from consideration from any internships in this cycle.
Ships will be departing on May 13, 25AV at 08:00 sharp. The licensed Huntsman in charge will inform you of exact locations and what to bring at some point during this week. Students are required to follow any and all instructions given by the licensed Huntsman in charge while out on the field, and failure to do so may be disqualifying for future missions. Your mission is one of support and going off alone on a whim puts yourself and everyone else’s lives in danger and will simply not be tolerated. People put out requests for missions because they need someone to help them, and the worst thing that could possibly happen is for one of our students to make a poor decision that simply makes them another victim in need of rescue.
Particularly severe cases that put the lives of civilians or other students at serious unnecessary risk will result in expulsion from Haven Academy. There is a zero tolerance policy when it comes to endangering civilians and other students due to an inability to follow directions. Internships are meant as a learning experience for students to receive hands-on training by a more experienced, licensed huntsman and this experience to be treated as such. Performance of each student will be evaluated by the Huntsman upon return to campus, and a satisfactory evaluation is required in order to be part of any combat mission in the next round of internships due to safety concerns. If you do your best, follow directions, and work to be an asset rather than a hindrance to your Huntsman you will no doubt receive high marks for this exercise and receive a good evaluation.
Best of luck next week on your first missions, and have fun preparing. Dust allocations will be done the morning of departure. We have enough dust of each type for all students, but those same students are asked to consider the circumstances of their mission. Students in the past have tended to grab Fire and Lightning dust for even non-combat missions and that reduces the pool available for those engaging in Search and Destroy, Bounty, and other high intensity combat situations so keep that in mind moving forward.

This is the IC announcement of a mini-event where students will participate in one mission Huntsman Internships with a selected faculty member. To sign up for this event, simply reply in character to this thread with what group you are signing up for when your character goes over to the Grand Hall to write their name in. This is a mini-event with no Event Points, but double experience to all missions and this signup thread. Individual missions will be run on a 48 hour posting timer like any event, so keep that in mind when applying that you will be skipped if unable to post within that 48 hours when it is your turn to post. This is done to keep threads moving and ensure that the group threads are completed in a timely fashion and we can then use it to propel ourselves into the next full event!
