[attr="class","RDcontainer"] [attr="class","RDcontent"] After receiving Shadecloak’s message that the landing spot on the beach was unclear, Holly wanted to do something about that. Give some form of landmark, maybe even create one herself. Holly had thought for a moment till she came to the best possible solution she could think of. She still had fire dust on her person. Her supply of dust was meant to keep warm more than anything, but she had only used up one of the doses up to this point to make a fire. Three she had still left. If there was anything on the beach that could burn, Holly could get the airship to come over. That was a good plan, wasn’t it? [break] [break] But as they say; When it rains, it pours. [break] [break] Holly didn’t have the best view of the gravity of the moment to moment battle from her relatively cloistered location. Not that the rest of her party were the best at communicating what was going on. Sure, they might be dealing with the fight in a very involved way, but the size of Rochdale made having a clear overview of their status uncertain. Some of her fellow students could be death and Holly would not know at this moment. [break] [break] Until Argent gave out the call that he was about to be overrun. [break] [break] The first person who had actively called on the open channel for aid. Considering who it came from and who was defending the safehouse outside, Holly could have honestly anticipated the next sequence of events if she had thought longer about it. Kishka, another star in the communication-game, let her plan be known to save her boyfriend. Holly responded with a slight panic, though she seemed to accept this course of events with some reluctance. “Just make it quick!” Argent, scary snake that he was, deserved to be saved, sure…but now Holly was without external protection. [break] [break] And now Holly needed to make a choice. [break] [break] Stay inside to try and focus fully on the defence now that Kishka was going to Argent. [break] [break] Or, ensure that there is a beacon that makes the airship land as close to the safehouse as possible. [break] [break] The girl thought about her choice for a moment, but the answer was basically made for her when she heard a weird sound. As if someone had shot the wall? Wha- Holly looked to the right side of the room and noticed that one of the planks of the boarded up window had something sticking through it. Soon, Holly also heard panicked voices from downstairs. Putting two and two together after a moment, Holly knew what took priority. [break] [break] As Lancers were now threatening the safehouse, Holly couldn’t leave them. [break] [break] Running over towards the stairs going down, Holly shouted to the people below. “PUT EVERYTHING LARGE THAT IS NOT BOLTED DOWN IN FRONT OF A WINDOW AND THEN STAY AWAY FROM THEM! IF YOU ARE NOT DOING THAT PREPARE TO MOVE OUT!” [break] [break] Wait, they are not the only people who need to be said that. [break] [break] …[break] [break] Megaphone! [break] [break] Holly rushed over towards the still available megaphone that she had used for her rousing speech. She didn’t have long to think about it, and every shot and worried glance from the militia beside her remembered her of that fact. Across Rochdale, the same voice sounded out that previously gave words of hope. Hope that was in some way now validated. While Holly tried to remain as calm as she could, the slight panic of her voice of being a castle under siege gave it a few cracks. [break] [break] “People of Rochdale! The airship is inbound. Prepare to move out at a moment’s notice! A landing zone will be established, and that location will be given when I know it! Please remain calm, and don’t rush into the streets without armed escort. …Uhm, Hold fast! You are doing great!” [break] [break] Hopefully, that will do the trick. The ‘you are doing great’ part might have given the message a weird ending, but Holly simply blanked on heroic motivational endings for a moment. Hopefully, people will not do something as stupid and rush out into the street on their own and just get slaughtered if there was nobody to protect them. While the gunfire of the airship might give some indication to the people outside where it was, Holly had no way of knowing if the people inside could differentiate from ‘Shadecloak airship’ gunfire, or your regular ‘militia trying to hold the line’ gunfire. The fact that Holly didn’t say that the beach was going to be the landing zone… was because Holly had no way of knowing that the ship would actually land there. Holly didn’t know the current state of the defensive line and thought that they still had more ground to work with as potential landing spots. Diverting everyone to the beach, while the ship landed somewhere else, would get all those villagers killed. [break] [break] Another scream downstairs, most likely from another damn lancer who tore up another piece of barricading, reminded Holly that she didn’t have time to dawdle. Taking her scroll in her hand again, Holly returned a message to Shadecloak on the channel. “Shadecloak, I will shoot a large fireball on the roof of the building where you need to land! Give confirmation when you have spotted me! I do not want to be up on that roof for long! Holly out!” She gave a quick command to her troops as well, letting her know of the plan she had thought up in 5 seconds. While she shouted it as she made way to one of the windows that was still large enough for a girl as small as her to crawl out of. “I AM GOING ON THE ROOF, YOU ALL KEEP FOCUSING ON THE SMALL BAT-LIKE GRIMM! I WILL LURE AIRSHIP HERE! WHEN AIRSHIP LANDS NEAR US! LET PEOPLE KNOW THROUGH MEGAPHONE! I LOVE YOU ALL, DON’T DIE!” [break] [break] She gained a few resounding affirmations that she was heard before Holly attempted to climb out of the window and made her way up to the roof with her ability to climb stuff. Why use doors when a window is your closest exit? Ryan learned Holly that. Holly nearly slipped off when a layer of snow started to slide and nearly made her lose her grip on the diagonal roof. Luckily, the slant of the roof wasn’t steep enough that Holly couldn’t stand upright when she had found her balance. When Holly found a moment where she wasn’t fending off a Ravager coming her way, she would try to see if she could spot the airship as she prepared to use one of her three fire dust crystals. When Holly thought that she could potentially be spotted, Holly used the dust itself to create as large a fireball if she could. She directed it at the nearest Ravager or Lancer for extra effect, but getting the signal out there was more important. If Holly wouldn’t have given any confirmation after her first usage of Dust, she would try again after ten seconds or so…if she could. [break] [break] I would really like to hear your apathetic voice right now, a scary lady who was also my saviour! I will clean out your weird cat hair-ears for you! Just get us out of here!
