Name: History Class: The Vytal Debate
Scenario Rank: Rank F
Death Enabled: No
Number of Characters Supported: Four participants required.
Scenario Overview: In honor of the Vytal Festival, and the idea that lasting peace between the kingdoms is possible, those who attend Mrs. Long history class have a special assignment leading up the tournament. A Historic debate, with four participants representing a kingdom. Multiple debated have happened, and this thread is one of such sessions. Each participant must defend their kingdom's viewpoint for entering the War, after which the other participants must giving counterarguments to argue that their position is justified. The students have been working on the presentation for over two weeks, and have been given a clear outline of what is expected of them, but formulating specific arguments was all their own work. While the grading table is mostly what you expect from it, with points given for argumentation and speaking skills, there is a mysterious 25% of the final grade that is only marked by an '?'. Mrs. Meng Long is the moderator, and has been given the debate for five years now. Can you impress her?
Before the participants get to begin, kingdom roles will be assigned to them by Meng Long in the introduction post. Speaking order is also decided by Meng Long.
In the first round of posting, every participant gets a post (Around 2 minutes as a guideline) to give their opening statement. This should include an introduction, their argument for why their participation in the conflict is justified, and why they will be victorious.
In the third round there will be a similar round of debate as in the previous round, only participants must now choose to defend another kingdom from their own point of view (The guideline is still 5 minutes, but is not a hard requirement). Why would they not fight, or even be allies in this war? While it is of course customary that Vale would support Vacuo, and Mantle support Mistral, this is not required. Meng Long picks the first speaker, as in the previous rounds.
Other notes:
- This will be a dialogue heavy thread, so be prepared for that when you sign up. Our more silent characters will gain no special treatment. Maybe the next class will be more for you.
- Kingdoms will be assigned mostly at random in the first post by Meng Long, requiring participants to take the full two weeks to prepare for the debate. Participants don't know it, but they do not get to represent their own kingdom if possible. Groups have been made explicitly to ensure this.
- While a bit obvious, only people who are actively attending history class can appropriate. If your character is not doing the history course, they cannot be a part of this thread. Because there hasn't been a history class on the forum yet, this does give people the freedom to decide if they are a part of it or not. For people in the History class who obsoletely refuse to be in this debate, or one of the other background debates that aren't threaded, they need to hand in an alternative assignment but only get the minimal passing grade and nothing higher.
- No weapons are allowed in the debate as a symbol that there is now peace, and an Academy uniform is required to be worn.
- As a general guideline, I expect participants to respond in approximately 72 hours. It is not a hard rule, and being a day late once is not a problem. This rule does not count when the free debate is going on, as there will not be a turn order for this period in the thread.
- The lore and knowledge that the players could possess, if they did their homework, is given in Volume 4, World of Remnant: The Great War, as well as in other official lore. While there is some slight leeway with venturing out of this canon with telling things more colorful than depicted in the show, giving extremely alternative information will be judged by the moderator, and will affect your grade. You may of course still say it, but be prepared for the consequences.

The general outline of the debate is as follows, though there might be slight changes after the third round:
Before the participants get to begin, kingdom roles will be assigned to them by Meng Long in the introduction post. Speaking order is also decided by Meng Long.
In the first round of posting, every participant gets a post (Around 2 minutes as a guideline) to give their opening statement. This should include an introduction, their argument for why their participation in the conflict is justified, and why they will be victorious.
In the second round, each kingdom gets a chance to counter the arguments of one other kingdom in which ever way they see fit (The guideline is 5 minutes, but is not a hard requirement). Extra points are given if they can keep to the mindset of the kingdom they represent. After a kingdom has received an objection, it is their turn to pick another kingdom, but no kingdom may be picked twice, and you may not pick the previous kingdom who picked you.
A correct order could be: Mantle > Vale > Mistral > Vacuo. An incorrect order would be Vale > Mantle > Vale, or Mistral > Vacuo > Mantle > Vacuo. Meng Long decides who gets the first pick, after making a call who was the preliminary winner of the first round with the best opening statement, giving them free pick.
After the third round is place for free debate, with the moderator being there to ensure that arguments are noted, and that they are taken into consideration for the grading. There will be no strict turn order. Still, if two people can write multiple posts a day, but someone else can only do one every other day, I expect participants to be considerate of this. I hold the right to enforce an IC break, with Meng interrupting, to give those other people time to post when this consideration of the participants is not given. Keep in mind that the full debate is scheduled to be half an hour at max.
