Rochdale had changed a lot of things. [break][break]
A heck of a lot of things. [break][break]
Everyone who came back from that event came back different and dealt with it in different ways. Colton, the first class lead chosen by Shadecloak, had decided to drop out of Haven and take the licensing test as an independent after the event. He gave up his dream of winning the Vytal Festival in order to do something he felt was more important – help his kingdom during a severe Huntsman shortage. It was bizarre, really, but witnessing pointless slaughter on a massive scale firsthand did funny things to people’s sense of morality and views of the world. [break][break]
Shadecloak had forgotten all about the whole ‘Class Lead’ thing, frankly, because she didn’t think it mattered. The trainees disagreed and wanted to pick the next one. The faunus still didn’t think it mattered but was fine spending the first half hour or so of the morning class to get it out of the way. If people wanted to make speeches and make their case, that was fine. If they didn’t and wanted to get to voting immediately, that was fine too. [break][break]
Every desk had a slip of paper with a pen to write in their choice, and people could make that decision whenever they wanted. They could change their choice or whatever too, that was fine. The word ELECTION was on the board, and the understanding was that if it wasn’t completed within a half hour Shadecloak would pick the next class lead herself. [break][break]
Nobody wanted that, obviously, so there was incentive to keep it moving. The professor herself would be showing up a half hour late, with the election being called if it was stalling when she arrived. She was very hands off with the entire process, really, and saw it more as an excuse to sleep in more than anything.

Scorpion sting, I don't wanna
bleed
tell me that I'm not
lost
It was weird, knowing that Colton was gone.
He was a person Jack respected and admired greatly, especially after everything he'd done in Rochdale. He'd saved Jack's life numerous times that day, and regardless of what happened in the process of getting on that ship, he looked up to the younger man as a comrade, a leader, and in a sense, as a friend, although they didn't quite interact as much as he'd have perhaps hoped.
And now, he's gone off to become a Huntsman, after only a year of Academy training. If anyone could do it, Colton could. Jack fully believed that.
But now, their class was left without a leader. While Professor Shadecloak was a diligent and effective teacher, it was vital to their success as a class that they have a strong student voice as well- a firm hand, guiding them by example, through Shadecloak's rigorous exercises. Colton had exceeded at that task, but now, they were having a vote to replace him.
It was a tough choice.
Jack wasn't exactly the most social creature, after all- he had never really interacted with many of his classmates in any significant way, so his options were limited to those that he knew.
Which meant himself, Ryan, Lily, Rose, Holly, Brigit, and Argent.
He immediately struck his own name from the choices remaining. He wanted nothing to do with a leadership position- he was a support fighter, not a brave warrior charging into battle.
Ryan was quiet and introverted, and for all of his good qualities, he wasn't nearly as strong as Colton. That was an important factor to consider as well. He also would very likely not want to be in a position of leadership.
Lily wasn't in much of a better position. She was stronger, for sure, and had really helped Jack out during Midterms. And she was incredibly intelligent, and clearly well-disciplined. But like Ryan, she was introverted, perhaps moreso than him- timid, shy, and anxious in large groups. And like Ryan, Jack doubted she would want to be a leader anyways.
Rose was a solid choice. She was by far one of the strongest students in their year, and had the personality for leadership; fierce, strong, sociable enough (more than Colton, in fact), and experienced. However, she was also a bit, eh... Emotionally unstable, as he witnessed firsthand several months ago... And she was also a bit too aggressive and frankly, scary. Maybe if they were choosing someone to represent their class in a tournament, but not for a Class Captain election.
Argent was also a good pick. Jack hadn't gotten to know him very well, beyond interacting with him in Rochdale, but he had a good, level, head on his shoulders, was an extremely accomplished fighter, and was surprisingly academically-minded. He had a reputation for being good at math, almost as noteworthy as his reputation for taking a stand against some anti-faunus bullies, along with his girlfriend- a person who was somehow more terrifying than Rose... Honestly, he might have picked Argent, but the prospect of letting Kishka come anywhere close to Green Class's leadership position was a bit too much for his heart to handle, even taking her own merits into consideration. He'd heard plenty of stories about her arguments in the other class's group chats, and he wanted absolutely none of that drama in the Green Class chat. Which meant that, unfortunately, Argent was out.
Next was Brigit, who was somehow scarier than both Rose and Kishka, but who he also respected more than almost any other student in the class, shy of Colton, for her help in his passing Midterms. She was strong, smart, and while she wasn't exactly gifted with charisma, she was direct, confident, and a strong leader. She would have had his vote, except...
There was also Holly, who Jack was sure would make an excellent leader. She had handled herself incredibly well in Rochdale, frankly, and while she was not entirely the best fighter in the school, by any means, she was great with people, and knew how to encourage, inspire, and rally them. They needed that sort of support, in his opinion, to push themselves to be the best they could possibly be. Holly was a top contender for his vote as well.
And in the end, it was her name that he jotted down on his slip of paper, and placed with the other votes, after careful deliberation.
"Holly Hock." She would make a good Class Captain in Colton's stead. He was sure of it.

I'm going to change you like a remix and then raise you like a phoenix.
The election was, frankly, a waste of everyone's time. There wasn’t a single person in the green class that Brigit thought would be able to actually perform well as a leader, they were mostly children that happened to have super powers and trauma. A winning combination for a person that was supposed to lead a group. Hormones, trauma, and super powers. Great. This of course left the only viable option as Brigit herself. She was competent, she got to the point, she didn’t have time for idiots or backtalk and she knew for a fact that of all the bad choices on the green team, she would be the least bad for the group in the long term.
Brigit stood up and wrote her own name on her voting slip before placing it in the pile. She looked around the room at the others, Jack had already voted - she doubted there was any chance that he had voted for her. A pity. But the rest were still thinking, still trying to figure out which awful choice they were going to put their vote towards today.
”Everyone. No one here is a good leader. Anyone who claims to be is lying or far more confident in themselves than they deserve. You all know what I did during the winter break, you heard about the trial and the evidence. So it is not surprising that few of you would consider voting for me. But think. Of all the people here, most of you are children. Some of you are still scarred from the recent huntsman mission to the point where you have been the cause of fights.” She looked to Holly as she said that. ”There is no good choice. But I am the least bad one.”
And then she moved over, her limbs making their characteristic loud metallic noises as she did so, and then sat back in her chair to wait for the results.

Election time! Holly has never been in an election before! She is quite certain that she hasn’t voted for anything in her life except who needed to clean the house and who did the other chores. And even that was more decided by who could raise their hand the fastest when tasks where being divided. While, thill Holly got her semblance and started to train. After that moment, growing crops and sparring being her chores. It are still her tasks now here at Haven Academy, now that Holly thought about it. Growing food and hitting things. She liked one, hated the other. [break] [break] Sitting in that room with her fellow students, Holly thought quietly for a moment who she should vote for. Several names came to mind, but her thought process of who Holly thought was a good class leader was disrupted somewhat when Bridget started to speak. Holly thought that it was going to be an impassionate speech of why she is great, and perfect for the role. [break] [break] It wasn’t. [break] [break] She insulted her fellow classmates. [break] [break] And only said that she should lead because she was the less bad option. [break] [break] That isn’t very inspiring. [break] [break] That isn’t very nice. [break] [break] Holly also thought that she was being called out when Bridget looked at her. [break] [break] Ugh, fine! Speech time it is! [break] [break] After Bridget had given her speech and had voted, Holly stood up and walked in front of the class. She was wearing her student uniform, and looked quite presentable if you could forgive the lack of shoes. Standing there for a shy moment, Holly began addressing the class. While it had a hint of ‘girl giving a class presentation about her pet rock’, there was bit more fire and heart put into it than the girl would be able to muster a few months ago. [break] [break] “After Rochdale, I was in a very bad place. I accept that, and I do not deny it. I have seen innocent people die and get hurt in my arms. People whose only crime was living in Rochdale, and who depended on our protection. We, either as students, an academy, or a whole kingdom, failed those people. I let that thought eat at me till I was but a shell. An egg without yoke.” [break] [break] Holly’s mood lessens quite a bit when she kept speaking, as the grief and horror of everything slowly returned to her mind. Taking a slight breathing pause to make sure that the thoughts did not consume her, she continued. [break] [break] “After I returned, I took out the worst of those feelings on Rin. She did not deserve that, and the blame is mine. I will not say anything more about it without knowing if Rin wants me to, but I will say the truth and nothing but the truth if she asks me to. After that day I took some things that caused me to land in the infirmary, and I caused Niraya to punch me after being mean to her. It wasn’t just one instance of a bad decision.” [break] [break] Do you want to add tax evasion to that list of crimes to? It was honestly not a great speech if someone wanted to inspire confidence, but she didn’t wanted to leave such things unspoken. She didn’t want to rule on a throne of lies, nor did she honestly wanted to rule in the first place when she came here. Holly believed that she had some qualities that made her a great leader, but she was well aware that she had also done things that made her less than ideal. She would let people decide if they wanted Holly to be class leader, and all that Holly wanted to do was to give them as honest of a picture of her for them to make that decision. While Holly still spoke to the whole class in a way, her eyes were focused mostly upon one person. Those magenta dishes were looking almost exclusively at Rin as she continued. [break] [break] “I have accepted mental help from Dr Haragitanai, and while I do not believe I have processed everything what has happened yet, I would myself not be able to vote for someone who can shrug off everything what has happened so casually. A lot of people died in Rochdale, including a classmate, that should be important. We were attacked in the very place that we should feel safe, and we lost a former classmate turned traitor and a teacher, and that should be a big deal. I am getting better everyday step by step, and I would honestly extend my apologises to everyone who I might have been less than a good person to.” [break] [break] Scratching her chin slightly, Holly addressed the reason why people should vote for her, more so than all the reasons why their lives are not all that great despite every person in the room knowing that. She sounded somewhat more confident in talking about her good traits, but it was still obvious that in front of the class stood a small girl who didn’t seem all that qualified to lead anyone into battle. [break] [break] “I have… uhm, managerial experience from leading the Gardenin Club, and I have provided food to this school and other places for months. I have taken charge of a safehouse during Rochdale, and I care deeply for the people we are supposed to safe. I have visited the Rochdale refugees in the city with some other students to give our support, and that is honestly the most I can offer as a class leader. I am not perfect, but I believe that I can try to give everyone support in some way. I am not the best fighter, and if you are looking for that you should vote indeed for someone like Bridget or Rose. I am not the most natural fighter, but I am trying to do what I can to help out. That…uhm…that is all I think.” [break] [break] Holly returned back to her seat, not yet seeming to cast a vote as she wanted to hear about other people and if they wanted to run for the position. Rin was a quiet, meagre pressence, barely outspoken, barely wishing to participate in this whole thing. Yet, somewhere the girl knew that if Holly was to somehow win presidency, Rin herself would feel alienated from the class. They would've literally chosen one of the people making her early weeks at Haven a living hell. It was not something she could allow to happen. If it did happen, then the last words Holly had said to Rin would likely come to pass.
"...I'd like to see Erytheia taking up the reigns as class president."
That was all which she had to say. No glamour, no wordy or lengthy explanations. Just simple and to the point. Afterall, no matter what Holly said, she hadn't come around to Rin with an apology. Nor had she had any chance to prove, with her actions, that she had changed. Thus it was just more of the same to Rin. More of the same. Hopefully the future would be a slightly more welcoming and warmer place.

Niraya sits in class and listens to the others gave their speeches but it was Holly's speech that made her feel uneasy. Niraya wasn't at Roachdale so she never saw those horrors. Niraya stood up and walked over to holly and hugged her at the end of her speech. "are we still friends Holly?" She asked this again still unsure thanks to the doctor she questioned who she thought was friends. Qui'li was a friend but after what she learned about Roachdale she began to question a lot of things. As Niraya walked back to her seat she speaks her mind. "A leader is one who can take charge of a situation Roachdale from what I heard went bad very quickly. if Holly was able to organize the chaos that she is better suited for a leadership role than any of us as she has clearly done that in a moment where leadership counts the most." Niraya sits down at her desk and sighs she knew she was going to get flack for this and for being a Faunus as well as not actually being at Roachdale.

Rose sat in her seat stewing in frustration at the turn of events. For fuck's sake, she was convinced to come to Haven because Colt had talked her into it. He was the only person who had ever given the blonde a challenge, but Winter break had interfered with everything! She couldn't help anyone at Rochdale and she was too late to challenge her rival to a duel before he had left! It royally pissed her off!
She sat cross legged in her seat, feet shaking up and down rapidly as she listened to the Professor. There was no leader to speak of and apparently things would come down to a vote...a popularity contest essentially. What a joke. Leadership was seized and taken by force or else things fall apart. Rose scoffed at Jack's choice for Holly, knowing full well that the girl was nice enough but...that was it. She was a supportive type of person, not a warrior or leader from what Rose had seen. After all, one fight that ended in vomit and tears proved that.
Really the only other contender was this red head. She was full of herself and basically insulted the entire class! The lesser of evils shtick? Give me a break! Rose's foot was starting to shake even faster at this farce so, once Rin and Niraya added their thoughts to the discussion, Rose stood up on her chair and kicked off of it to soar through the air in a spin. She landed with a light step at the front of the class and spun around on the heel of her boot. The blonde eyed the class with narrowed eyes, crossing her arms in front of her chest.
"So we are without a leader and that sucks, but we need to get over it. Honestly I'm a bit angry that Colt left, but he's doing what we are all aspiring to be: Huntsmen and Huntresses. I wasn't here to help y'all out, which frustrates me all to Hell, but I was busy stopping an uprising. I lead with conviction, setting examples and making sure that everyone is on equal ground. None of us here is a lesser being...whether they be a Faunus, if they lack confidence, or have a skill set that doesn't fit with combat."
Rose stepped forward and slammed her hands down on the desk in front of her loudly. "There are no lessers of evils. There is only the Hunter and the Grimm....we are the last line of defense. We need to grow up and take responsibility for our strengths and weaknesses. I'll find those strengths and weaknesses and bring them out in all of you...or not. You decide who leads."
The Vacuo girl stood up straight and stalked back to her seat, plopping down heavily and kicking her foot back up to rock back and forth.
Holly was both spoken to and approached on her way back to her seat. First by Rin, whose comment honestly was something that Holly had expected. Or at least, something amongst those lines. 'Crazy psychopathic Creep' was also something that she honestly expected as a possibility. This was comparatively tame. And Holly was going to respond with an appropriate response towards Rin. Holly's voice was clear. [break] [break]
"Everyone is in one form shaken by what has happened. Even if they do not want to admit this, I think. Still, we do need to vote for a class leader, and I know that I have some experience that can be of use to us."[break] [break]
The choice of Erytheia was...odd. Mostly because Holly had no idea that she was even interested to be a class lead. Holly looked at the direction of the Hellebore heiress and spoke openly about the nomination. It wasn't a mocking tone, but the pinkette did seem a bit surprised. [break] [break]
"Then Erytheia can come and make her claim for the position. If she makes a better case than me or Bridget, than let us all hear it! That is democracy right, without the knives part!"[break] [break]
Having said her piece, Holly was continuing her way back to her seat as Niraya came up and hugged the other girl. Surprise hugs are the best kinds of hugs, and Holly returned it in full as she spoke softly near Niraya's ears. It wasn't that Holly whispered, but this was more a private moment than anything else. "Of course we are! You are a friend that I cannot miss in my life and one who I need to soon take out to do something fun! Maybe climbing?"[break] [break]
Holly did want to go climbing with Rose, and that fun activity was something they could do as a trio.[break] [break]
Speaking of Rose...[break] [break]
When Holly was back in her seat, Rose did that wonderful little jump and flip. Of course, she could do it with those legs of hers. She looked as intimidating and radiant as ever, though the slamming on the desk was maybe a bit much? Hopefully, it wasn't cracked or something like that? Still...this was as good a nomination Holly feared they would get out of Rose, and the pinkette's mind was mostly made up if something surprising didn't happen.[break] [break]
It was going to be either herself or Rose.[break] [break]
And if we wanted a more combat-capable leader, Holly would resign and give her support to Rose.[break] [break]
Thighs that win votes. [break] [break]

The noble warrior stood, and the people looked to her.
For she was a beacon - hope given form, yet still only human. Within that truth there was great promise. If one could stand against the night, then so too could anyone - everyone.
In her hand the warrior held a Rose. And her aura burned bright.
❝
There was a moment when Erytheia hesitated, still looking down at her gloved hands while her cousin spoke. But then she rose from her seat, and that expression was shed like water off a swan's back as she stood and walked to the front of the class. Head held high and back straight, the easy smile she graced everyone with as she took the stage was far more charismatic than her predecessors, and her mannerisms rung through with a dignified, regal air that drew attention - less so than Rose's entrance, perhaps, but certainly enough to catch the eye once the other had returned to her seat.
"It was not my intention to try for this position at first," were the first words she said, gloved hands clasped together in front of her. While she did not shout, her words still projected across the classroom with enough force that everyone could hear, even those seated at the furthest end.
"Like many others here, I had thought that Colton would be with us for far longer than this. His departure was as unexpected as it was sudden, and while I cannot say whether it was the right decision to make, I am sure that he did what he did out of a sense of duty. Duty to the people of Mistral, and our seniors in the field who need our support more than ever."
There was a pause then, scarlet eyes flickering from one person to another before she let them fall again to focus on her own gloved hands, still hiding the scars she'd let so few see.
"But not all of us have his strength. Not all of us can step out into the world outside and make the difference we want to, as he did. Even so, we must do what we can, with what we have, and it is those thoughts of duty that lead me to stand here before you."
Looking back at her fellows, Erytheia's voice grew stronger and more confident, her head held high as she cast her gaze around the room.
"It is important to have a strong leader in times of crisis, but strength alone does not define who we are. Power, when used without empathy for others, leads only to pain and suffering. We have seen that here, in this very school. The wisdom to nurture, and lift others up to form a united front, I believe, is more important now than ever."
"I have fought alongside many, and learned from the best. I offer you now that knowledge and training, to help as best as I can. And to those who worry that my knowledge is academic alone in nature, be assured that while I am not on the same level of strength as Colton, I still hail from the same background - Sanctum Academy, where students are honed and polished to be the best possible versions of themselves they can be. It is my honest hope that you will have me, and all that I have to bring to the position."
Dipping her head in a short bow, the heiress would stand there a little longer to field any questions that she might have been asked. Without the presence of such, she would return to her seat much the same way she'd left it.

There was nothing quite like an election to get the blood pumping. The thrill of the bureaucracy, the roar of a bored-silent crowd, the exciting and dramatic results which none ever cared for -- it was intense stuff, alright. Better than a coffee to wake you up, that was for sure.[break] For Seiya Sune, however, this whole affair was not nearly as exhilarating as one would expect (nay, demand!) given the circumstances. Colton Deraine, Haven's Ace, had decided to just up-and-vanish in the wake of the Rochdale fiasco and the coinciding act of terrorism on the academy, bypassing regular admin procedure and opting to become a fully licensed Hunter acting of his own accord.[break][break]
Shadecloak picked a real winner. Now, it was their turn to pick a worthy successor. Who knows, maybe this one would run away too.[break][break]
The homeroom was set in a fashion that was fairly typical, save for there being no teacher present; in Shadecloak's absence, a single word -- and, Seiya assumed, instruction -- was scrawled up the board in giant letters. Without a word, the aspiring Huntress took a seat at one of the many desks and stared at the blank scrap of paper set before it, sighing. Right, she mused, laying her arms across the smooth surface and resting her head down on the doubled-up bridge of her forearms, making a quick scan around the room as best she could with only her eyes.[break] None of these people were friends, so it was safe to say that any sort of bias from that would be out of the question. By the same token, Seiya had so little to work with regarding the leadership ability of any of her peers that it may very well have been nothing; a couple were quiet little cowards and a couple others instead boisterous and arrogant. There was a certain level of energy that was required of something like this -- though, of course, it went without saying that a 'leader' in this scenario was merely an unimportant formality who would be obligated to let real leaders shout commands down to them like a well-trained dog. Whoever it was that could pull sword from stone here -- or, in this case, from ballot box -- and be crowned the ruler of this particular class was not going to be important by any stretch of the imagination. Not now, and not whenever the next Rochdale would happen. Not when it came to really make any sort of impact.[break] It was a complete waste of time. But, hell, it was almost entertaining. Almost.[break][break]
The young Atlesian native pulled back from the desk and pinched at the bridge of her nose as she began to slump down, head tilting back as her whole body reclined in the seat, in an effort to hold back laughter in the wake of multiple unprompted, unwelcome, and absolutely embarrassing little speeches. She slipped lower and lower, suppressing more and more exasperated, hysterical, sardonic giggling as it rolled on; entertainment like this didn't come often. It was, frankly, a frontloaded experience: first up came Brigit and her 'lesser of all evils' approach to the farce, followed swiftly by some rambling drivel from Holly. One of the newcomers, Rin Hellebore, was next in line, offering a brief and blubbering commendation -- far from glowing -- for Erytheia, matched by something equally as weak and noncommittal from Niraya. By this point, Seiya was really having a good time being at the epicentre of this wholly unnecessary comedy, where she was truly unable to pull away from its gravitational well of pure blissful shame. A few hushed laughs dripping with exasperation and ever-present annoyance escaped from her, and were silenced as quickly as they came once the disinterest took its hold on the Huntress-to-be yet again. Rose was next in line to spill her guts; to the surprise of no one, it was a bombastic and brutish display punctuated by pride. Holly droned on some more, and after what seemed like an eternity the Hellebore heiress herself finally stood up and offered some words of her own. She was calm and composed, and carried herself with much more grace and intelligence than all the talkative little shits who'd made fools of themselves beforehand.[break] Definitely something regal about her, Seiya thought.[break] Definitely the only worthwhile choice.[break][break]
For Seiya Sune, this whole affair was over. Seiya scribbled Erytheia Hellebore down on her scrap of paper and folded her arms, and silently prayed for an excuse to leave.
This was not a good start to a day. Arno personally liked elections. The process was nice enough and picking a leader via a process of choice seemed like something good people would do. However, being only recently arrived he didn’t know who to vote for or how to react to any speeches. It made him nervous, which led to his reciting of some of the sentences from his father’s old stories to calm him. Those didn’t work. So fidgeting was truly his only option. He tapped his hands on the desk and considered the options. They were all interesting to some degree. He’d never met these people and being expected to add some contribution when he only really barely knew one of them in person and the others through the scroll chat feature? It was rather nerve wracking, a feeling that Arno had despised and for good reason. The rapid pace of his heartbeat meshed with his drumming fingers on the desk and that filled his ears just to the level where he couldn’t exactly hear his heart anymore, just the louder sounds of his fingers. The people who wanted to lead were all very different. Brigit was someone he’d never met but her rather...oddly blunt tone made him wince. He had not been here for those events but even so he could see they were not so long in the past. To draw an analogy from his own book of phrases, the scab was still fresh and the wound still bled. So he decided against Brigit. Next up was Holly. Far more reasonable and far more heroic sounding! Admittedly not a grandiose speech with rousing music but her points were fair. After that were some counterpoints but at that moment his heartbeat had come back to drum into his head and so he listened nervously, with only half an ear really paying attention. Until they got to Erytheia. She was calm and composed and all together much more well spoken than most candidates. Admittedly, she sounded a great deal more heroic than Holly but his mind was still split. Both made their fair share of points but Arno had to go with what he thought was right. With a smile and a thumbs up pointed in the direction of no person in particular he bellowed outwards “I will be voting for someone with a true heroic spirit!” And with that, he quietly scribbled down the name Erytheia Hellebore down on his piece of paper even though his mind was conflicted. Justice and heroism don’t show themselves only in heroes after all, perhaps he’d be proven wrong. (438/438)

Always remember to smile!

With arms crossed behind her head, Alice sat in the back of the class with a bored look on her face. It wasn't that she was bored, but thinking of the events that were happening in her class as she hasn't expected this when coming to class today. Voting for a new leader of the class? She guessed it was sort of a step up from just a team leader to a Commander of the sort for the group. Someone to overlook everything the class has and would do, as well as have a single point to place the blame when things go wrong. That, however, was just pessimistic thoughts that she quickly shook from her head as she got back to the subject at hand: Who to vote for? As it seemed after the recent event the former leader picked to bypassed the school and take some test she had never heard to jump right into the huntsmen rank. It honestly made her wish she could have met the person, this Colton Deraine, to see what that sort of person was like. A twitch of her fluffy ears bought her back to the classroom as people began to move to make their claims for the leadership.
With a slight frown, Alice watched them all as she wishes she had gotten here sooner and knew more about everyone as this wasn't the easiest thing to vote on some little speech alone. Despite how the acted she never like acting without information and prefer to gather up as much as she could before acting. At least on the matter that really matters beyond just a single embarrassing moment. Other then Holly the rest of the candidates was mostly unknown to Alice beyond the simple meeting or passing in the hall and classes, though she had tried to make it a point to meet everyone she could up to this point. It was a big school after all and there was a LOT of people for her to meet. That said she only saw two that she felt compel to vote for. The first this Brigit person was out without much of a thought at least in Alice's mind. She couldn't believe in her class and team then what would make her believe they could take and do any task without her? No, she was out and with a deep sigh Alice also removed Holly from the list. As much as she like the girl, even though their awkward meeting, she couldn't bring herself to vote for someone just cause she liked them. If it was for some other position then maybe, but not for leadership at this time. No, the only two she really felt she could vote for with a clear mind was this Rose and Hellebore.
With Hellebore being the strongest of the two as Alice thought on this matter. Maybe she was thinking far too hard on it and in the end, it wouldn't even matter, but then again maybe it would. If she was going to put in the effort the least she could do was make sure it was the right choice as least in her eyes. She liked Rose's attitude and spirit as she cut right to the point of the matter and wasn't afraid to point out some of the wording of the others. While Hellebore also sounded like a good choice as well as she ran off her own tale even as it seemed she didn't want it at first. Facts were stated and the reason was given and in the end, Alice was stuck in the middle as she was unsure. She always just followed who stepped up to be the leader rather than having a say in it. It was just how it was back home when you couldn't afford to spend days arguing and voting. So she did what she always did and followed her guts as she took the paper and quickly wrote out her vote. Reaching into her jacket she removed a small box bring it up to her mouth and pulling a stick of pocky out with her teeth. Softly chewing on it she folded the paper up with the name Rose Phoenix on and softly tapped in on the table as she waited for this to be over and for the day to really start.

Ruqa idly chewed the end of her pencil as each candidate stood up and gave their speel about why they were most qualified.
She kind of felt people were taking the whole thing a bit too seriously. They believed it was important and all but in Ruqa's mind it seemed a little bit pointless. Honestly, regardless of whoever became the leader of the green team all they were ever gonna do was be delegated work from Shadecloak. Maybe they would be asked to make a poster or assist with passing out the papers but the position hardly implied responsibility or authority.
Of course she recognised Colton was pretty proactive as a leader. Her knowledge of Rochedale was spotty but for what it was worth Colton did do his best to get wellness checkups for the students around the school in light of the tragedy. Colton had even asked her and Erytheia to assist although Ruqa was fairly certain she had failed to help him much as no students had approached Ruqa for assistance.
For the most part, Colton's actions were more of a sign of his personal sense of duty that that of obligation. She respected that and supposed it was that sense of duty that drove him to go and take his hunters license.
With her opinion of Colt in mind she found it hard to look up to any of the options for leadership. Maybe it was how talented Colt was but hardly anyone seemed like they could live to his potential. The campaign portion of the class election was mostly just a dry affair if people were going to bicker over who was more suitable which Ruqa wanted no part of.
It had occurred to Ruqa that she could have tried at the title. Her performance at the Argus Limited mission was well recognised by Shadecloak so there might be approval there. But that felt so long ago and most people wouldn't remember it in light of more recent events. Right now, the students needed someone to provide support and stability and that no way going to be coming from the quirky four-armed girl.
Plus her chances at getting elected were probably shoddy. Hardly anyone from the Argus Limited mission was in the green team. Nikolas and Carmin were in Red and couldn't vote for her. Both Elena and Colt had left too. Braun and Qiu'li... well they were dead so it wasn't worth thinking about anyway.
The only face she recognised from the mission was Argent, the snake faunus of the green team. From her limited interactions with the guy, she couldn't know how he would vote and just decided to let it go for now.
Maybe if Colt hung out a little bit longer and helped to hype her legend up she could get some support. Eh, it was no big deal. The others could play high school politicians all they wanted. Ruqa just wanted this done.
To the few electorate candidates there was... certainly a lot to say about them.
Ruqa had initially felt supportive of Brigit... until she opened her mouth that is. The stern woman went on about how no one was qualified and that she did not want to be leader but would dutifully take on the challenge. There was some sense of finality in her tone which was dumb. It sounded like Brigit was saying "oh heavy is the crown on my head", bemoaning at the potential responsibilities but, like, no one was forcing anyone to become green leader. At the very least it should go to someone that actually wanted the damn title.
Holly was the next candidate to introduce herself and she was such a cutie! The part about being experienced through managing the gardening club was a-dor-able! If Ruqa recalled, she saw some posters of the club back in the day that were drawn in crayon. Holly seemed like she could be a nice, wholesome leader! That is... until Rin mentioned some other things. Yeah, Ruqa had been paying attention to the Haven Chat Logs and honestly... that was a can of worms Ruqa was unwilling to open. Like, she didn't claim to know what was going on, but they should probably have a leader that doesn't scare anyone. Holly: cute but deadly? Ruqa was unwilling to take a chance.
Ruqa didn't know what to make of Rose. She had to wonder.... Were Colt and Rose banging on the side??? Whatever the answer was, Rose seemed like a woman that Ruqa could approve of. A tough cat that Ruqa could imagine shooting the shit with in her downtime. But when it came to Rose's proposal her platform was all over the place. Apparently she had the plan to bring out people's strengths and weaknesses but there was no real method suggested. She could approve of Rose's strong attitude and drive to fight the Grimm but that wasn't what people needed right now.
But then Erytheia rose up and Ruqa started paying attention.
Erytheia speech was a grand one and Ruqa found herself impressed. Her proposal also claimed she intended to help students grow stronger but she also brought up important things like wisdom and empathy and all that goody goody stuff. Ery had such a nice voice... and seemed the most responsible out of all of them. This was the kind of stability that this class needed.
It also helped that she was... y'know...her
"Yeah maybe this time, we could go for a nice, safe, boring leader. And I mean that in the best possible way Ery!" Ruqa says, giving the girl a supportive thumbs up.
